Frequency of Fills

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody! Hope you had a good face-to-face meeting on the 19th--sorry to have missed it!

You may recall I was banded by Dr. Brody on 12/28/05--my first fill was 2/7/06. I have no restriction with 1.75cc in my 4cc band. I do try and eat only a bandster size portion (as best I can) and to make the right food choices, but I have been gaining and losing the same 3 pounds for the last 3 weeks.

Dr. Brody requries that I wait 6 weeks between fills; I have made my next appointment for the middle of March. What is your experience with the first fill providing restriction---and how frequently does you doctor allow you to return for a subsequent fill? Thanks. Mindi

Hi Mindy,

I've heard of fills taking up to 4-5 wks to kick in. I am on my second fill and have yet to experience restriction:cry. I was told by Brody that his protocol is usually 6wks betw. fills, but I could certainly come in before then if I needed to.

My dr will only let you come every 4 weeks but I could not get my first one until 10 weeks. After 3 fills I am restricted. I will not be going back for a while because I have been losing good since my 3rd fill. 2.5

Hi--I'm here! I went for a fill and Brody said that I was doing so well with my weight loss that a fill was not necessary. I indictaed that I felt I was eating too much food at each meal, and that I was hungry about 2 hours after eating---but he asked me to wait another 6 weeks to see how I do.

I was banded 12/28 and have lost 46 pounds since banding. I am currently at 1.75cc in a 4.cc band. I am very, very careful with what I eat--mostly fish and vegetables and have stopped eating out. I bring my Breakfast and lunch to work everyday--it definitely feels like dieting, but as long as I'm losing and have the momentum I'm happy. I wish I had slightly more restriction to make it from meal to meal---maybe next time.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
