my hubby is diabetic so we eat alot of brown rice, whole wheat Pasta, and very rarely whole wheat bread or sourdough bread, which is diabetic friendly. im 4 months out and can eat anything as long as i take small bites and chew well and take time between my bites. This includes pasta, plain or with homemade spagetti sauce, and uncle bens brown rice or chinese or thai food brown rice. Yummy !!!

Digestable carbs are the carbs that your body can digest. The nice thing is that they dont get all gunked up and sit in the pit of your band and make you feel like crap!

We do whole grain or Dreamfields here. Pasta with meat sauce was always among my favorite all time meals so I always have to be cautiously aware of only putting a small amount on my plate of either of those pastas. I never have a problem with eating them as far as my band goes.

Pasta sounds so good... unfortunatley I was told I can't have any carbs until I am at my goal weight. I am only 7 weeks out so I have aways and 61 pounds to go... spaghetti is my favorite food.... uugghhh but it will be worth it.

No carbs?! We are suppose to embrace the high protein/low carb lifestyle...but NO carbs? Are you sure? I think I am very conservative with keeping my carbs to below 30. the average person keeps theirs at around 225 and diabetics can have up to 125. So none seems impossible for the long haul.

You might want to double check and make sure

Yes.. positive. I was told no carbs until I get to my goal weight. I am so tired of eating eggs so I called to ask could I do specail K and eas told no because it has carbs... I think I should be able to have them but they feel otherwise..... its killing me and I have had a break down a few times but nothing severe. Its so hard..............

Newme2012: There are healthy carbs out there. Fruits, some veggies, dairy, etc. It is not realistic to have NO carbs until goal. I understand restricting the amount... but none? I disagree with your doctor. I wish you tons of success but I would seriously consider add some healthy carbs into your diet (not cereal).

Ok! That makes sense. He is restricting you to healthy carbs.

Hang in there. It will get easier as you get restriction. I don't even WANT to eat bread because the band and bread do not get along!!!

Quinoa is a GREAT substitute for rice. And Pasta, well just avoid it for now. Luckily I was never a Pasta nut.

I've always loved my Pasta dishes. With the band, I have cut back drastically on my portions and how often I fix it, but I can't eliminate it all together. I did away with bread, rice, and potatoes, but I just couldn't let go of the Pasta. Spaghetti is my favorite meal at home. I just eat a smaller portion and take my time. It hasn't affected my weight loss at all.

I think pasta is only bad when you add lots of creamy/fatty sauces (for example: alfredo sauces).

As long as I can fit it into my calories, I will eat it. My total carbs for the day are usually around 70-100g. Again, I have lost 80 some pounds doing this everyday. Not all carbs are evil.

I used to love Pasta, prob had it at least twice a week before surgery. I can still eat it but I don't any more. When I make it for my family I will just have the meat sauce and add a little bit of cheese. I still have to count my calories so for me, it's not worth it.

i literally did this last night! went out for dinner with the family, 200 cals for 2 oz Pasta doesnt appeal to me for the same reason, calorie counting, so i had salad, a few bites of eggplant parm, and at the meat sauce off the pasta!! :D

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
