Im worry about loose skin. Doesn't it happened to everyone? I'm 27 and hoping with help from the gym my body will bounce back a little better than someone double my age Iv talked to.

It varies from person to person, based on age, genetics, and current skin damage. Some people can go from 250 down to 140 and have great bodies, and others can't. I am 23, and hoping that I'm better off... I am worried about my stomach though.

I've also read that if you have stretch marks, the skin is permanently damaged and it is likely it will be looser. I also saw a poster say her Dr recommended lotioning daily because it might help the skin's elasticity... I have no idea if this holds any merit, but am trying all tips I hear :)

I have stretch marks too, but I figure if I can lose the weight and be healthier and the cost is a looser tummy, it's better than being fat and sick. I am still holding out hope that the skin will snap back though...

The loose skin is my biggest fear. I have already had twins and the day I gave birth my waist measured 68 inches. I have stretch marks, but I have seen alot worse than mine. I do use lotion after every bath and always have and I do think it has helped my stretch marks but I still got saggy skin after loosing all that baby weight. I use Palmers Coco Butter lotion and it helps with the stretch marks. I think a good lotion with CQ10 will help with saggy skin. Sirvectin(sp) sold at GNC works great on saggy facial skin but is very pricy.

11 days till surgery....whooohooooo

Twins.. have you used that cream on your face from GNC? If so how did it work for you? I have alot of loose skin on my face would love to have a good product to use.

I haven't personally used the cream(GNC) but my sister loves it. She is 50 and looks 40. Last time I saw her was about 2 months after she started using it and she had the prettiest glow to her skin and the skin on her neck looks smoother.

The only thing I have done besides lotioning up all the time all over with Palmers Coco Butter lotion is to have seaweed clay body wraps done after the birth of my first 2 children and then 3 body wraps after my twins, and I barely have stretch marks. I am some what worried about the loose skin on my tummy after I loose weight. And on my face. I use the Palmers on my face every morning and night.

Tough topic for sure! We all wanna lose weight fast and furiously but slow and steady is actually best when it comes to your skin as it lets it adjust... Don't think your doomed though just because you have stretch marks. I had lots and some are many are still there but not all that noticeable. Definitely a "YMMV" topic. I wouldn't have been caught dead in public without a shirt on a few years ago but now I really enjoy shirtless summers.

Hydration, exercise, and rest are HUGE factors for your skin - but no two people are going to get the same results. IMO you just have to tip the scale in your favor and do everything you can to aid in skin recovery. Drink lots of Water, get adequate rest and exercise, plus quality lotions and cremes and you'll achieve the best results possible.

It's a big problem (no pun intended), especially for older bandsters. Skin naturally loses elacticity through aging, and a history of repeated weight loss and regain only makes it worse. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get insurance to pay for tummy tucks and other procedures. I'm grappling with that problem now. Trying to figure out how to fund some surgery. Lose skin around upper arms, thighs and butt (oh, that butt!) makes for ill-fitting clothing and too much cover up in the summer. I'd like to hear from older bandsters who had this problem: How old is too old to have plastic surgery for these problems. Can anyone recommend a plastic surgeon in the NYC area?

I went to Dr Baraka for my breast reduction. I thought he did a pretty good job. http://www.drberaka.com/ -- not sure I'd go to him again, but I was happy for a long time and had very little scarring.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
