Not Sure What I'm Doing Wrong

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2/16/12. My starting weight (pre-op) was 207. I lost 13 pounds during the liquid diet phase. I have only lost 2 pounds since surgery. I've had 2 fills in a 10cc band. The first fill was 2cc and the second fill was 1cc. (The nurse put 2cc in during the second fill but had to take 1cc out because I couldn't swallow Water.)

I know this is a slow process, but really think I should see more results by now. I'm eating about half of what I was, and meeting my Protein requirements. I try to exercise at least 3 days a week and walk 2-3 miles each day.

Please help I'm getting extremely frustrated!

I shoot for at least one hour of cardio 7 days a week so that if I miss one day I've done 6 days. Are you measuring your Protein? My doctor says 3 oz per meal.

And you're already under 200? About 190? I am guessing since you have less weight to lose (assuming, unless you're shorter...) it will take a little longer. Don't get discouraged by looking at others dropping weight because most of us are closer to the 250's starting out, but when we get down to your weight, it will be harder for us too.

So you have lost 15 pounds in less than two months and you think there is something wrong??? You sound like you are right on track. YAY you!!! You will hit that sweet spot and have a good month or two but your body always has to recover and adjust to weght loss. Remember your first few visits and I bet your doc or nurse said Lapband isn't for rapid weight loss. It is meant to be slow but steady to prepare your body for success. I didn't lose more then 5 pounds the first 3 months then the 3rd fill was a miracle and I dropped a lot. You are on the right track and doing great!!!

Have u tried doing the liquid diet a couple of days to kinda shock your system? I hear some people do that. I don't pretend to have the answers :)

As mentioned above the lower your BMI the slower you will probably loose. Also even being 282 at time of surgery I lost slower than some because I had already lost about 100 pounds.

Im almost 6 weeks out and I lost 3 lbs from the pre-op diet ... and maybe 2-4 lbs since surgery. Trust me, as long as the scale is going down youre doing something right. It may take you a few more fills to get to the "green zone"

I just had my 1st fill yesterday .... I hear it takes a bit to get to that sweet spot where you're losing 2 lbs a week consistently.

It sound like you have less to lose. I had about 120 pounds to lose, banded on 2/20/12, lost 35 pounds so far with 3cc, but it sounds like I have more to lose. The less you need to lose, the slower it comes off.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
