Alittle Confused :-/

Recommended Posts

I have a question about Tricare. I have all my doctors and test done but my physicians weight loss documentation goes back to 2005 to date. It is not consecutive because the medications given is not for long term use. Would they deny me based off this or do they look for documentation that the program has been done? I also have documentation since November with my updated weight loss program?

All of this is very confusing because it seems people get approved and denied based off the smallest wording or mistakes in documentation. Ive been waiting now over a week and starting to get nervous... Grrrrr

Which tricare? north?south? standard or prime. I have tricare north/standard

I was able to sign up on line and was able to check on the status of my approval. It took a week. Is your Bmi 40 or 35 with co-morbidities?

I have Tricare north. I have a BMI of 38 with high blood pressure and depression. My lab work last month shows elevated blood sugar, triglyceride and cholesterol. So the doctor wants to start monitoring this every 3 months.

I also have Tri care and went through this same process. At first they denied me because I didn't have current 6 months of consecutive dr visits regarding my weight issues with my PCP. So I had to compete that first than I appeal it and I was approve in February and just had my surgery yesterday.

Hang in there things will get better for you soon you can also log Into triwest.com with your user name etc and check the status on approval or not . Best of luck to you

If you have the bmi and the comorbidities, the most they can do is make you do the 6 month diet. High blood Pressure is definately a comorbidity ....don't think depressions is, but I could be wrong.

Just jump through all the hoops and you will get there. Try not to get discouraged.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
