I've been banded for a month and have lost 20 some lbs. But I am so tired and have no energy. Is this normal.

Are you taking a Multivitamin? Most band specific Vitamins have around 800% B12. I take a sublingual B12 and a Vitamin D. You could also be anemic.

Another issue could be that you're not getting quite enough food yet so your body is out of energy.

How many times a day do you eat? My doc told me only 3 meals a day and I can't eat hardly anything at a meal

if youre not getting enough Protein you'll definetly be tired ! also check with your dr about which Vitamins you should be taking. before i was banded 4 months ago i was tired alot. Tests showed that i was very low in Iron, so ask your dr about that. Its very common in women as youre losing iron every month but as you get older your body cant replace it as much ( Im 53, going through pre-menopause .) The only iron pill my stomach can tolerate is one called "Slow Fe" a slow release iron supplement, found at your local drugstore. Now ive got lots more energy than i had before, losing 30 lbs and exercising 3 x a week makes a big difference . Good luck !

I eat three times a day. I usually get 80g+ of Protein per day. I also drink 85oz+ Water. I will enjoy some diet drinks (no soda, but diet Snapples, Sobe lifewaters, etc), but max about 20oz per day. I try to keep calories between 1000-1200 a day.

This is a usual day of eating (http://www.fitbit.co...date/2012-04-12)

- Breakfast (approx 300 calories): Instant oatmeal (weight watchers from Quaker has extra protein/fiber) and 2% milk

- lunch (approx 400 calories): 1/2 turkey wrap (Made with light mayo, turkey, cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, Tomato, mushroom, and lettuce) and about 3/4 cup cottage cheese (sometimes with fruit on top).

- dinner (approx 300-350 calories): 1/2 turkey wrap (same as above) and possibly a sugar free pudding cup.

I also get another 60 calories in from my Vitamins. I take an O-purity band multi, a chewable Iron, sublingual B12, 5000mg Biotin, 5000iu Vit D, Probiotic pearl, birth control, Calcium chew, allergy pill, and a Coromega Omega-3 squeeze.

You've lost 20 pounds, you feel tired... that's not normal. Try eating more but smaller meals throughout the day. Have high Protein food as meals and Snacks. You should make an appointment and have a chat with your medical team, they can (or should) help address this.

The doc's advice to eat ONLY 3 MEALS a day? ... that's suspect to me. Is this doctor ASMBS Center of Excellence certified? I think I got a AAS degree in Bariatric thanks to all the education I received pre and post surgery thanks to my weight loss center at Swedish Hospital.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
