Tipped Port!

Recommended Posts

Had a Dr. appointment this morning and nurses could not find my port to give me a fill.

I have to go back on Tuesday to see the surgeon and if he can not do it then I need to go to the hospital for fluro fill.

I love my band and just needed a little fill so I am venting sorry.

I also want to update my ticker so need to click on it I guess

oh I am down 60 pounds since July 25 2012!

Is your port a free floating port?

For instance mine is actually sewn to a piece of surgical mesh and floats

I went to my dr. yesterday and he had a lot of trouble accessing the port. So in about 4-6 weeks he will do a procedure to secure it using a mesh since it seems to be tilted on its side. I actually felt the stitches pop one night when I was rolling over in bed, but didn't think anything of it. Guess I should have told the dr about that!

Sounds like what happened to me! Some of the clamps holding down one side of my port came loose. It wasn't noticeable when I had more weight to lose, but man did it become noticeable after a while!

Here's some posts on my blog about different options for putting the port back on...

Hope that helps a little bit! If you have any questions, just holler.

My port has always been on a bit of an angle and moves when the needle hits it but it has not flipped. I have had all my fills under fluro until 4 weeks ago ( I am nearly 2 years post op and have 9.5mls in my10ml band) when finally the surgeon was able to access my port by holding it in place, using a longer needle and going in on a different angle. Wait and see what happens, it maybe that the surgeon will be able to access your port if it hasn't actually flipped. This happened to my friend as well, the nurse couldn't access her port but the surgeon got it straight in.

So good luck and i will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
