The usually discuss previous surgeries, allergies to medicines. Discuss any medical conditions. If you use a CPAP ask if you should bring it with you.

I did not have one of those. I was all prepped and ready to go in the OR in 5 minutes when he came around, asked a few questions, and had me sign some releases.

Idid have a pulmonary work up where things like sleep studies ans CPAP came up.

I had an appointment with the anesthesiologist 1 week before my surgery. They want to know all your past medical and past surgical history. If you have any major issues, he will want to know if you are cleared by that physician to proceed with surgery.(I have had a bad lung infection so he wanted to know if my pulmonologist had cleared me.) They want to know if you or any immediate family members have ever had a bad reaction to anesthesia. Mine went over my medication list and told me what to take the morning of surgery and what to skip. After he went through all that he did some education about the type of anesthesia they would be using, explained how it would all work the morning of surgery and had me sign the consent for anesthesia. At my hospital you meet the preop nurse the same day. She went over the preop shower, body wash protocol and how to use the Incentive Spirometer after surgery. It really wasn't a big deal and only took about 30 minutes. Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
