NWgirl 574 Posted April 12, 2012 Milk of magnesia. It can take up to six hours to work. I also take probiotic pearls- not sure if they help or not, but since surgery I have only had to use MoM once.
Ready2BFit 33 Posted April 12, 2012 Thank you I will have to try something but this has been four hours and I am miserable at this point. Don't want to push with my stomach because I don't want to hurt anything.
lillieb53 5 Posted April 12, 2012 For immediate relief you could use Dulcolax suppositories or a Fleets enema. The process is not pretty but, they work within 15 minutes.
Ready2BFit 33 Posted April 12, 2012 OMG! I am so afraid because I read where Constipation could be a sign of slippage. Oh I hope this isn't the case or I will just cry my eyes out. I have tried so hard and I don't want this to be happening to me. Plus I haven't been drinking alot of Water and that could be an issue too. Oh I am a nervous wreck right now,
JJLaw08 4 Posted April 12, 2012 I've never heard of Constipation being a sign of a slip. Heartburn, reflux, pain when eating/drinking is all I have ever heard about. I have constipation as well. I will take some pills (I think they are a stool softener of some kind), and the next morning, I am good to go.

elcee 3,341 Posted April 12, 2012 Constipation is normally a sign of a low fibre diet not of a slip. Post op your diet will be very low fibre. Anaesthesia also contributes towards it. Try adding something like Benefibre to your drinks as that will help to add bulk. Once you are cleared to eat normal food make sure you eat a variety of foods including veggies and grains. High Protein diets can cause really bad constipation.
