Welp, it's been almost a year since my surgery. I had lost 73lbs, THEN winter hit. I got the winter blues, I hate to exercise inside, I'm am outdoor kinda girl. So with the crappy weather I found a good "excuse" to let myself go. So far I have gained back 8 lbs. I found I love chocolate! I never liked it much before, but now I can't get enough. I am so disgusted in myself for giving in to laziness again! I want so much to get my motivation back. I'm so tired lately that I sleep until 11:30-12:00 almost every day! I am saying this out loud do that I can be held accountable for it. Please send happy thoughts my way! Thanks

You need to set yourself up a routine and stick to it, laying around in bed till mid day is just not condusive to losing weight or staying healthy, it also is just a waste of life, instead of a 1/3 of your life when u are 80 yrs old being sleep you are aiming for 1/2 your life sleeping .. we only have one life so make the most of it .. the more sugar u eat .. i.e choch the more you will sleep .. dump the chochccies and get moving u havent put on much weight so it wont take you long .. You obviously want to do it otherwise u wouldnt have posted here so get that alarm clock set and dont delay your Breakfast time :)

good luck .. !

rlane - I am not very far into this journey. But one thing I noticed about myself that may be helpful for you is that when I was home with nothing to do - I obsessed more about food. When I went back to work I obviously had other things on my mind. I also know from my past habits that I am a boredom/stress eater.

You didn't mention if you worked/went to school or had a hobby...but if not I would strongly recommend one or all of those if possible. The more you do outside the home the better you will feel.

chocolate is my downfall...so is cheese. Heck if you provide me with a chocolate cheesecake I thought I was in heaven. I just haven't allowed it in the house. My family has been supportive. I told them its kind of like an alcoholic just getting out of rehab...be sensitive to me regarding my triggers. You wouldn't put beer in the fridge or a keg stand in the kitchen for an alcoholic...so please have the same courtesy for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
