Brttnyj89 30 Posted April 11, 2012 I have been on my liquid diet for exactly 8 days. Monday night I gave into temptation and ate two boiled eggs and a handful of shredded cheese. When I weighed myself the following day I had lost 12 pounds. When I initially started the diet I was 393. I am beginning to worry whether or not I'll loose enough weight in order to have the surgery. Every time I call and talk to my doctor he never fully tells me how much I need to loose or anything like that.
zinhaa 363 Posted April 11, 2012 I know most of them want us to loose before surgery so the fat is reduced on the liver so it is easier to do. wendy
honk 780 Posted April 11, 2012 In general I will say to always follow your doctors orders. If you DO go off your perscribed diet eggs and cheese are probably good choices. Your doctor wants you to burn the fat stored in your liver and by not feeding your body carbs it is forced to burn fat. Fat stored in the organs is burned first; thus the shrinking of the liver. The liver gets flipped out of the way so they can get to the stomach. My doctor explained to me that doing laproscopic surgery is like trying to due surgery inside of a full suitcase through 5 small holes. The more things you remove from the suitcase before the surgery (weight loss) the easier it is for him to work (has more room to move around.). I was 336 at first consult and after 7 months wait (waiting for a blood clot to disapate) was 282 the day of surgery.

kbliss78 123 Posted April 11, 2012 My surgeon doesnt even do the shake diet, it is phase one of adkins. So I imagine that even though you cheated, you ate protien and no carbs. I dont think you would have done damage or jeapordize your surgery. Do you best and forget the rest
Megan92877 7 Posted April 11, 2012 I agree....protein is the best "cheat" that you could do....I lost my battle to a Kit Kat, two mini twix bars, and a mini snickers.....but you gotta get right back on the horse!
