I'm 3 weeks post-op. Feel great !! I would like to start doing more abdominal exercises but didn't think to ask the doctor when it would be ok to start. I had two hernias (one hyatial and one umbilical), and a lot of adhessions removed.

I have been doing some very light abdominal exercises, with no problem and I think I'm ready to do a little more.

How long did you guys wait?

BTW-I called the office today, the Surgeon and the Nurse practioner are both gone to a conference untill the 17th.....so unless I call the on-call doctor (don't want to do that), no one can give me an answer untill then.

It really is up to your Dr. Clearing you.

I went back to the gym 1 week after surgery, then went all out at 4 weeks, with my Dr.'s blessing.

I was released to exercise at two weeks. I waited until six weeks before I really worked my abs though.

I would hold off on the abs- just think, you have the rest of your life to work on a 6 pack lol. It just doesn't see worth ripping a stich or whatever could happen. Wait for your drs. go ahead would be my advice.

I was told at my 6 week appt that I could start ab exercises, but to take it easy. When I do them now, I can feel the port pulling and am sore after, so in my opinion, I would wait a little longer until you are healed more.

I would do cardio for now and wait on the abs work. After all you can't loose weight in a particular area by exercising those muscles. Doing good cardio will help you loose weight all over.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
