Is there anyone out there that has not been successful? I started out good, lost 44#,s. Got distracted with my husbands health problems and now I almost weigh

as much as when I first started. Dr. says it's all my fault.

Maybe a fill would help? Or talking with a nutritionist/dietician.

I say start over, focus on you for awhile, and keep yourself accountable. Get fills, don't eat around the band. You did it once, you can do it again- that's the beauty of the band!!!

We don't know all he facts to make any judgments.....but if your Dr says it's all your fault, and he has all your records.........?

Well, you know whether it's your fault or not. If we're all honest with ourselves, we are generally our own worst enemy.

However, it sounds like you're ready for a re-start and your doctor should be supportive and encouraging, not accusatory!

When someone makes me mad or hurts my feelings, I consider the greatest revenge is to be the very best that I can be and to prove them wrong. Tell me that I'm a failure at losing weight???? Wait until you see just how much weight I can lose!

Seems like you are.

I'm not banded yet but I'm sorry you're going through this set back. And that's what it is, a set back, you can get over this hump and get back on track. Believe you can do it and ask for help when you're not sure.

I agree- Back to basics. I went to a support group meeting the other day and one of the people said that once a month they go back to basics, starting out with Phase 1 of the post-op diet (liquids) for two days, then Phase 2- soft mushies and then so on. Worth a shot? You can do it!

I think with any weight loss effort there will be distractions. From someone who has struggled for 20 years and has started over too many times to count, it is never too late. You have the band now and it is meant to be a tool. So use the tool by starting again. I agree that you can do it again! Good luck to you, don't be discouraged.

I would suggest a food and exercise journal. I know it's a pain in the neck to do it but it does help you stay honest with yourself and you always have records to go back to if you ever need to.

This is very good advice.

I use an app called "Lose It", and I log every single thing I eat, every day. As Jim1967 stated, it keeps me accountable for what I put in my body. Because it's an app on my phone, it's very easy and takes very little time to simply add food. (you can access it online as well, it updates on both places)

It's also helpful when I go see my nutrionist because I can show her exactly what I've been eating, including Protein, carb, and fat break downs.

I think you have start over from scratch and go forward looking at this as a new beginning rather than a failure. Go back, start getting fills again so you have restriction, see a nutritionist, and start logging your food. You can do this and be successful, it's just going to take some time and work.

I know a lot of bandsters that found considerable help by using weight watchers and other group nutrition diet programs .... maybe you should give one a try and see if that gets the scale moving again. Also, I went to a support group and someone suggested the "The Beck Diet" book and workbook. I got them both on Amazon for under $20 and Im seeing results in less than 24 hours ... Im eating less and feeling good about myself.

This forum is a great resource and place to get encouragement and in turn encourage others. Also, a great app that I use for food and exercise tracking is my fitness pal. I don't leave home without it, its on my phone.

Best of luck to you, you have a great tool to make the changes. Look at it as changing your life not just losing weight. I know that's cliche, but it's truth. I use Myfitnesspal.com for food tracking I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. it's great to add friends so that you can cheer eachother on. Check it out and if you decide to use it, add me as a friend! dsanborn33

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
