Jackie's girl 32 Posted April 11, 2012 I have a pretty aggressive exercise routine and realize after my surgery I will not be able to do things right away. I am addicted to Zumba, which if you do it correctly really uses your stomach muscles. Does anyone else do it regularly and when can you get back to it. I also take step, which is not all stomach, but is alot of jumping around and moving quickly. That is what I am concerned about. Anyone else have an aggressive exercise routine in place before surgery?
inkgurl 13 Posted April 11, 2012 I'm in the same boat. I work out 5 days a week with cardio and weights. Wondering how long it will be before I can go back to my normal workout. I don't want to lose the muscle I have gained!
Cazzy 725 Posted April 11, 2012 Everyone is given differenmt advice from their surgeon / doctor so it would be best to ask what them. Most docs let u walk straight away but vigorous work outs they might say 2 weeks or 6 weeks or 3 months so its best to get medical advice on that one
Jachut 487 Posted April 11, 2012 I was running within a few weeks of my surgery, but step is a lot more complex than running - something I realised when I did a few classes after a 20 year hiatus. My 44 year old knees and hips can cope with a fairly heavy running and spinning schedule but not with a step class or two. So take your time and take it easy, give it perhaps six weeks.
