emjay 8 Posted April 10, 2012 I have been sitting at my desk today wondering why I kept thinking today was somebody's birthday, anniversary or some other important day I was forgetting until it just hit me, it's MINE! 3 years ago today (which was Good Friday), I had my surgery. It has opened up a whole new life for me in so many ways. For the first time in my 47 years of life, I feel like I have some control over my life and what I put in my mouth. I've managed to keep most of the weight off, having gained back about 10-12 lbs from my lowest, but knowing that if I concentrate on what I need to do, I can get it off. I have the confidence in myself to be able to achieve that. So, I hate to toot my own horn, but I felt like I needed to tell somebody. I'm very grateful to everyone that has helped me along the way, including many of you on this forum. Support is a beautiful thing and a tremendous help. Get it anywhere you can. So to all of you on your journey and beyond, be proud of yourself for making a difference in your life and having the courage to do what you can to make your goals happen. And thanks to all of you who have helped me.
Dibley Dawn 84 Posted April 10, 2012 congrats on reaching 3 years. I am just under a month away from my 1 year bandiversary and I can say that I too am thrilled with my decision to have this procedure. it has changed my life and only hope that i can continue to lose. i am really really far away from my ultimate goal, but i am taking it one day at a time and enjoying life to the fullest. i'm glad that at 3 years out you are still happy with your decision. congrats again! sparkplug 106 Posted April 22, 2012 I also have been banded for 3 1/2 years and was to goal with losing 90 pounds but got a little complacent and starting eating a little too much and/or too much popcorn. I have gained 10 pounds from my lowest weight and am struggling to get into the mindset that got me to goal to begin with. I do not eat a lot at each meal but have to get over this popcorn thing to get this weight off. I do not want to go any higher than I am and need support mentally to get this weight off before I go back to square one. I never regretted being banded but I seem to have lost total control of this snack thing on weekends.
