I had my first fill last Fri and am at 4cc's. I do get full quicker on MUCH less food, but an hr or 2 later I'm STARVING. Shaky, weak, stomach growling...the whole 9! I usually chug some Water or Crystal Light if my next meal isn't too far away, but what are some high protein/low carb Snacks I can keep around for when this happens so I'm not tempted to grab something I shouldn't?

I have a tea or coffeee with skimmed milk to stave off the hunger pangs till the next meal, if u need more then go for a greek yoghurt, unflavoured 0 fat add some sweetner to it if u need, cottage cheese, just a glass of skimmed milk, 6 almonds to chew on, or look on the forum for snack idead under food and nutrition, plenty of ideas there too :)

Hey there,

I was told by my nutritionist to chew on some beef (or turkey) Jerky. I was thinking she was out of her mind but the next time I went to the store I checked it out. Of course all brands are different but the ones I compared were fairly low in calories, high in Protein and it takes FOREVER to chew so my desire to chew is totally satisfied! I hope this helps. Good luck on your journey!! :)

There is a great thread about Snacks on here. Check it out.

Until you get good restriction you will be hungry between meals. As long as you are making smart snacking choices, you can still lose weight.

Some of my favs:

Greek yogurt (Chobani peach is my fav)

Apple with Peanut Butter

Almonds

String cheese

Laughing cow cheese wedge with wheat thins

Hard boiled egg stuffed with hummus

I usually will have a weight watchers cheese stick or a boiled egg white with some hummus or maybe a slice of deli chicken or turkey. That usually will get me to my next meal. Today I actually had a special K bar for something different.

I am on the 2 week post op liquid diet, but my dr does allow a few super-mushies in- yogurt, applesauce, whipped cottage cheese. It's unseasonably warm here in Boston, and I wanted a cool and creamy treat- I just took 1/3 cup part skim ricotta, mixed in 3 packets of Splenda, a little cinnamon and a little vanilla, and it's heaven- my own little ricotta pie :) plus, it has 9 g of protein!!! This will stay on my snack list :)

weight at start of pre surgery diet - 304/current weight 293/surgery scheduled for April 10!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
