Short Of Breath And Dizzy

Recommended Posts

I got my lapband on April 6th and since that day I can hardly walk from one room to another without being short of breath and feel like Im going to faint. I am getting my shakes in as of yesterday and am getting my Water in also. What could I be doing wrong?

I think I did that too. Part of it, I think, is all the air that is pumped into your abdomen...plus all that stuff in there is swollen from the doctor doing his/her work. I felt like the almost-fainting was due to my pain pills but I might not have been getting enough Water.< /p>

That was the worst part of the surgery for me, and totally unexpected because I had had my gallbladder removed a couple of years before being banded, and didn't have any problems!! My last really bad day with the light-headedness was exactly seven days after surgery. Since then I've felt really good. I started having some dizziness again about two months after surgery and my PCP reduced my blood pressure medication and it went away.

I felt similar while in the hospital....everytime I would take a deep breath it would cause pain in my left lung. so I had to take short shallow breaths which made me feel like I was short on breath....it actually spent the nurses in a panic apparently that is a sign of a clot.....I knew it wasn't that...but then they had a hard time finding a pulse in my right foot...everyone jumped into action....I kept saying...I don't think its that bad!! but untill they found the pulse with a dopler machine and had a x-ray taken of my chest, I was watched like a hawk.

Since you are only 4 days out, I think it would be worth a call to your doctor just to make sure he doesn't want to see you. But I'm I'm sure its probably just the gas settling around your lungs making it hard to breath. It should pass in a few days. Mine lasted about a week before it all went away.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
