New To This Site - Had Surgery In Northern Ontario, Canada

Recommended Posts

Hi! Just trying to get acquainted with this site! I was banded in Sudbury, Ontario in May 2011.

My clinic is Thinlife surgical Weight loss in Sudbury, ON and my surgeon was Dr. Ravinder Singh.

I am very happy with my decision to have gastric banding! I started out at a weight of 289.4 - my BMI was 43.94. I was morbidly obese. I still cringe when I think about it. I am currently down to 227 and a BMI of 34.51. A total of 62.4 pounds lost.

I am feeling better than ever. I was on 2 blood pressure pills a day plus a Water pill and got off all of them in November!!

I am more active, I sleep better and am truly enjoying my life so much more!

The Thinlife team has been a great support system and has really helped me with my journey! I would recommend them to anyone thinking about the surgery as an option!!

That's awesome! Congratulations on the loss...both of the pounds and the medications!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
