chicasmom 10 Posted April 10, 2012 I'm on Adderall for my ADD and I think my band might be tightening up as the day goes on after i take it & its been in my system a couple hours(no problem getting it down). My schedule was weird this weekend & didn't take my adderall sat or sun so of course my appetite was increased because of it ~ which i fully expected But I don't think it was all head hunger as it felt as if the volume of food I could comfortably . I didn't go crazy but I did eat more than I normally do. Monday rolls around and I take my adderall as usual and by noon I can barely get down my lunch. I'm wondering if due to adderall being a stimulant is it perhaps it is causing my band to swell and give me a wee bit more restriction during the peak day hours? Or is it the stress at work? Maybe both? Im not complaining about it, but wondered if anyone taking ADD meds like adderall or vyvanse has had anything similar? kbee2599 0 Posted April 10, 2012 That's a good question. I have wondered that myself. I am also on Adderall for ADD. I know I am way more hungry when I don't take it. I have noticed in the morning, my band feels very tight but loosens up as the day goes on, even when I take the Adderall. I've also noticed it depends on the day. I have been able to eat a steak one night and can't hold down a Protein Shake all in the same day. I really have to pay attention to how my band accepts anything I try to eat. pjreid 0 Posted April 10, 2012 Adderall decreases your appetite. It is a side effect. No relationship to the band.
dert 17 Posted April 10, 2012 The adderall could be causing the band to feel tighter if the adderall causes you to retain Water. The gastric band is absorptive and can actually absorb water--causing it to feel tighter. That's why a lot of people find that the band is tighter in the morning or when you have PMS. So when you're taking adderall, be sure to drink some extra water to flush any "bloat" out of your system. And make sure you're not eating salty foods. If the tightness continues, you should ask your doctor about it.
