I was struggling with the shakes too. This morning I added pumpkin pie spice to one. It was actually good! Try experimenting with your shakes a little to make them more tolerable. :)

Good luck!

I am having a very difficult time with the 2 week Protein thing. I am losin a little weight' date=' but the taste of the items I have to put in my mouth.....yuk! I have been sticking with it for my health!

Am I the only one having trouble with this liquid diet? [/quote']

What kind of protein drinks are you drinking? I am using the Isopure ready to drink protein drinks. I get them at the Vitamin Shoppe. To me some of them taste like a watered down ice pop and others taste like a Gatorade. I find the other shakes and powders to be chalky. These are more if a fruity juice but are within dietary restrictions. 40 grams of protein and no carbs.

Anyone ever heard of this? Lapband procedures are usually done as a same day surgery. But my insurance wants me to stay overnight.

My surgery was a same day surgery and I have a history of blood clots. If the insurance company requires an overnight stay they trump everyone. It is one way to ensure you are getting the best treatment and are following the rules.

Yep, I'm doing outpatient. I think it's just a matter of your doc and the facility that they're operating in.

mine is overnight, but my insurance company is now only approving this surgery as an outpatient procedure. This happened as of April 15, so since I was already in the process, my hospital is eating the cost of my stay. They told me that many insurance companies are moving to this.

Hi everyone.

Doing well. I was banded on the 2nd and have lost 9 lbs so far.

I am on a Clear liquids (water, ice, tea, sf ice pops) only diet until tomorrow in which I can than add Protein drinks. I'm on Protein drinks for 2 weeks and then mushies for 4 weeks.

My biggest complaint is indigestion. I have a 10 cc band with 7 ccs put in at surgery time.

The gas in my shoulder has gone away due to me moving and walking.

Congratulations! Glad to hear that you are doing well!

I cannot beleive it but I am less than 24 hours way from surgery (12:00 tommorow). I am excited and nervous. I am more nervous about the learning curve after the proceedure for my new life. But I am a good rule follower so since there are band rules, I plan to follow.

I lost 9 on pre - opt (low carb) and I am hoping it does not all come back once I have carbs again. ALthough I plan to eat very little carbs. However, the post opt smushies are mostly carb.

I cannot wait to be a banded girl and start my new life. Thanks for listening!

Best luck to other May bansters and any other 5/8 peeps!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
