When do you go on mushies? I think I do the first of June.

From reading all of the stuff on here I have realized my dr is much stricter than some. I was told not eat Peanut Butter until a lot later and then maybe not then (didn't ask why). Did ur dr say anything different? I'm also not allowed sticky bread, Pasta, or rice. They did say once I get used to my band then everyone is different and can tolerate different things. Oh well guess time will tell.

I too am having trouble getting my liquids in. Tomorrow will b one week post op for me, but went to dr today n everything was good. Lost 3 more pounds! Total so far 23 pounds

It would be so nice if all the drs would adopt a similar protocol! It would make so a lot less confusing for all of us!

So I had my first visit to the doc since surgery. I am 10 days post op and was concerned at the HORRIBLE gas I'm having' date=' so much so that I have sharp stabbing pains in my side and neck especially whe I lay down. So on my visit they are asking me a bunch of questions and come to find out the directions for how to drink were printed wrong in my nutrition book! So I had just progressed too fast to drinking too much at one sitting, which actually contributed to my own gas issues. Wow! So here is my question, how long does it take everyone to drink say a cup of liquid? I have to return to sipping an ounce every 15 minutes which means drinking all day![/quote']

I sip on a 16.9oz bottle of Water for hours. I've only gotten in close to two of those bottles in a day but I also sip on zero calorie Vitamin water some days plus 2 Protein Shakes.

Hope you feel better very soon. Happy healing to you :)

How are you feeling? I needed Fiber too for the potty issues.... I have been adding benifiber to my shakes. Glad to hear you are doing well.

I guess I will get better, still don't really have a appetite. I just had some Ginger tea. That tea seems like it's going to help. I still have gas, I can feel it moving around and hear it too!

Nope I'm not supposed to start mushies until June also. I have lots of gas, I can feel it moving around. Yeah our Dr.'s have the same rules. We were banded the same day. I didn't have peanut butter but I'm not sure it would be a problem if it's blended in a Protein Shake and it's low sugar.

I was banded May 4th. It was scary and exciting!! My doctor is Dr. Marsden from true results here in Texas. He is such a character. I was comfortable with him from the get go. It was rough the first couple days after surgery. The gas pains were killer and I walked a ring around my house for days to hopefully get it to pass. It did but slowly. Me and gas x are on a first name basis now..LOL. I am going for my first fill on Tues the 29th and am nervous. I can't burp still and haven't since the surgery...how awful let me tell you!! I've lost 22lbs since May 4th so I believe it's a success!!! I have learned so much from this site and everyone has amazing stories and ideas. Good luck to each of us on our journeys!!

I was banded at True results as well. Dr Benevides was my surgeon, love him!

I was banded 14th May and have my first fill on 28th June. Still not really hungry but went shopping for mushies food last night, my first time in a supermarket since the surgery and it was quite tough. Now I've got things like cottage cheese and Peanut Butter in the house, I'm really tempted to snack on them! Was easier when there was nothing here to eat. lol

Starting mushies tomorrow as I am going back to work on Monday and want a couple of days to settle in to the mushies before then. Really hoping I don't gain weight once I start eating. I've lost 13.8 pounds since surgery date and 55 pounds to date since my heaviest.

I'm walking lots each day and trying to make sure I get my fluids down too.

One thing I thought I might ask although this group might all be a bit to new at this but my diet sheet says after 2 weeks fluids and 2 weeks mushies, I can start to eat normal food and provides a sample menu which includes bread, pita, muffins etc. I thought that I would have to give up bread altogether. What have your experiences been? I love bread so would love to still be able to eat it, albeit in smaller amounts. :)

My dietican told me to try them. Some people do fine with them and some don't, It just depends on the person.

In my "real life" I've always tried to be a very strict rule follower so with this band I'm trying very hard to adhere to the rules now as well.

I was banded on Monday, so yesterday was my first day on full liquids. Need less to say, I didn't quite get everything in.

Also, like most people, I am feeling a lot of gas movement.

Lastly, I feel a lot of stuff in my chest too. I am going to assume my "full" feeling is going to come on very quickly and is going to involve my chest because I'm still feeling weird from last night (unless it's gas still).

But today is a new day (second time I've quoted chicken little this week)......

I was banded yesterday afternoon, I have to say that it was not a great experience for me. It's not the surgery itself but the place I went to that was so disappointing.

Anyways, this gas is horrific, i've drank warm tea, heating pad, slept sitting up, I dont know what else to do. I can't burp or do anything else at this moment to help relieve the pain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Help! I started mushies today and now have food stuck. I can't seem to shake it no matter why and have even tried drinking coke to bring it back up. Even fingers down the throat isn't working.

I won't say I'm Really uncomfy but I am in some discomfort. I've tried Hot Drinks, cold drinks, stretching, walking, laying on my left hand side. Nothing seems to help. Suggestions please! It's after midnight and I need to sleep. Thanks in advance.

Well, I am on Day 11 post-op and I feel pretty normal. That cranky gas pain is finally gone, but my appetite came back with a vengeance. I can eat bigger bites of normal foods in a shorter amount of time every day it seems. It's almost like nothing ever changed. But I have got to rise above this and stay on plan. My first challenge will be a Memorial Day BBQ tonight. May the force be with me. Might have to get on Lap Band Talk from my I pad. I am so ready for restriction!

It is easy to justify Peanut Butter because it's a mushie Protein what could be better. Problem is the huge calories, fat and sugar. Trust me you wouldn't want natural peanut butter it does not take good (no sugar). I had to give it up all together. I was eating it out of the jar and noticed I was eating like a jar week. Consider the facts 2 tablespoons is 180 cal, 16 g fat and only 8 g of protein. Fruited Greek yogurt 150 cals

0 g fat, 14 g protein (you can add Splendra to make it taste better).

@lappyloo I'm sorry it wasn't a great experience. The only thing that works is walking and waiting it out unfortunately. In a day or two things will be so much better.

@kiwijo Try pineapple juice. Worked like a charm for me! Some say papaya enzymes work as well.

@mrs.Popeye Im going through the same thing. My appetite is actually worse now than it was before I had the band. Argh.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
