Congrats! Its a relief to have it over. The fluids will get easier in a couple days. :)

Christine, your feelings are normal. I was an emotional wreck about a week leading up to my surgery. One minute I was excited, the next minute I wanted to just sabotage the whole thing. My moods were everywhere. You have nothing to worry about. This is an extremely safe surgery with a quick recovery time. I will be honest, the first few days sucked but as long as you can have pain meds and remember to REST you will be fine. You can do this.

The fluids do get better. I am drinking really well now, but the first day I was dying trying to get it all in. You just have to go slow. You will notice you can drink a little more each time and each day

Today I drove to the doctor, weighed in, went to the library, and walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes at a very slow pace. I feel like I worked a full day!! But since this is my first 24 hours off the pain meds I decided to drive. Felt ok, but slow going. Ate 12ounces of Soup today, super excited to see progress there. STill only getting about 600 calories a day in though, but not really worrying about that right now. Enjoying these cream Soups that I would never eat normally, but I figure when you are hardly eating anything at all, I can have it.

Day 7 post op. Surgeon visit tomorrow. I'm so afraid to step on that scale. I don't want to get discouraged if the scale goes up over swelling.

How did you all do at your post op visit? Did you go up or down on your weight?

Thanks in advance.

Lala :)

One more day and I'm getting the band. Wow, so many emotions, good and bad. I really hope this roller coaster of emotions gets better after the surgery. My surgery isn't scheduled until the afternoon on Thursday, why on earth would they make a person go that long without being able to drink even Water?

Lappyloo

Hey May bandsters! I had my surgery May 4th last year and I'm 75 lbs down! Its going to be a long road and it won't always go as smoothly as you want it too! Just stay focused and positive and you will achieve!

I can't stress enough on focusing on chewing and portion sizes' date=' especially once you start getting fills and EXERCISE!!! Every little bit helps! Just keep that in mind!

Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions or check out my blog for all my experiences![/quote']

Hello love your post. It's very encouraging. Getting band on 6/4/12. I'm so excited. I got pre-op tomorrow.

I am down another 6 pounds and I am still swollen, total 42 pounds now. I'm not going to get discouraged when that goes up after returning to solid food and getting more calories. I figured I had to lose this week, I have had very little to "eat". Good luck on your visit.

Hi everybody I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday may 25th!! Im super exited but nervous at the same time!! Im 27 yrs old and I weigh 347lbs! Ouch.. I've never said my weight, I'm actually very embarrassed about it!! I don't know if its normal but I'm afraid of failing at this!! I have very little will power but for some reason I feel I'm ready for this! I researched the Lapband and other weight loss surgeries for over 2 years!! But the fear is still there!! I hope it's normal!!

Thats me I am so under my calories but I am sure it all balances out. I was so afraid to drink the first few days. Now I feel better and yes after day 4 I can say it is getting better every day! Good luck to all the new banders!

Deep breath and try to relax! You got this! Keep us posted!

And knowing that I'm not the only one doing this is just awesome!! I love the fact that if I have questions or concerns there is so many people that can gladly help!! Thank you!! :)

So I'm two weeks post op and have had no issues except my port area is really bugging me. I sat for two hours at a movie and could barely focus because the tshirt over my tummy felt like sandpaper. When I sit it hurts.. Like a burning feeling.. Not the big incision but the skin around it. Has anyone else gone through this?? I am gonna call in tomorrow. Also my saliva is still very thick even though I am not overrating. Wth?

Hi Tere

I've found telling people what I weigh has been a relief rather than an embarrassment. We always think that we will be judged but I've found nothing but support. I also figure that the more people I tell, the more determined I will be not to disappoint them or myself by cheating. :)

I'm day 9 post surgery still on liquids and have lost 13.8pounds so far. I know this is not sustainable (nor healthy) so am expecting a change to happen once I start mushies this weekend. But oh my god how much do I crave mashed potatoes with gravy!! :)

Good luck, Tere. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
