I have to agree. It is more of a mental battle than anything. I was feeling the same way that you were feeling when I first started thinking about this whole surgery, but I am SO ready for this surgery! I know I can do it, I know it won't be easy and there will be tempation, but all i keep thinking about is the end goal. I have started purchasing small salad plates, and small bowls. Looking at them every day and saying, 'this is how much you will eat from now on'. At first it was scary, but now i'm so confident that i'll be able to do it.

Train your mind now. saying things like, 'this will make me sick'. I know its easier said than done, but I really believe that you can do it.

because I am afraid to fail. I failed at being able to do this on my own so it scares me alot that i wont be able to do this!!

One thing I went through while I was thinking about this was fear of failure. I always thought I failed because I had lost weight successfully so many times but always gained it back. Five years ago, I lost 70 pounds and after I lost my mom, I regained it. That can happen with any weight loss method. The mind changing thing for me was looking at failure in a different way. Failure would be a lack of effort and because you have made a decision to do this proves you are not failure and won't be after. Somebody asked me, "what is going to be different this time" I even asked myself that same question. My answer was, I decided to be different, very simple. This is a work in progress, don't defeat yourself before you start. I have decided I CAN do this and so can you. Best wishes to you.

I agree, I have started practicing some things now. Like Easter dinner. I asked what would be on the menu before so I could plan. Having a plan is key. It was not that hard because I want this so bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
