Eating 2 Weeks After Lapband Surgery

Recommended Posts

I just had my lapband surgery on March 27, I started with my weight at 316, I am st 281 now. It has been 2 weeks and the doctor has told me it was ok for puddings and creamed Soups and of course still clears and protien shakes. Today, I had a few bites of creamy mashed potaotes ( no chunks) lol and a few bites of winter squash which was like a puree consitency. I'm hoping that was ok. Also I still have a bit of tenderness where my port is, especially when I try to sleep on my right side.. used to be a stomach sleeper. How long before the tenderness goes away to be able to sleep comfortably again? I was also wondering since I have not had a fill yet.. but I'm guessing my full signal is like I have a little golf ball stuck in my stomach.. i def don't want to over do and ruin the band.. is that anormal feeling? Other that that I have no real issues and go back to my dr April 25th. My first few days after surgery were tough, didnt want to move and scared to drink or eat anything.. but i'm over it.. Just can't wait to introduce fish or chicken...lol.

Are you 7 days out of surgery or 15? At 7 days out I was allowed to eat full liquids like Tomato Soup. I was not allowed really smooth mushies like yogurt until day 15. I could not have even smooth mashed potato until day 21. If your doctor has not released you to mushies than I would say you should hold off on mushies like mashed potato or squash for now.

Be patient give your self time to heal. It is very important to follow dr orders on diet. This is time your band is setting in place the stitches holding the band in place are healing the stitches keep your band from sliping. So blend what eat and follow dr orders hang in there!

I am on day 12 of post op.. the dr already gave me ok to eat puddings.. creamed Soups adn scrambled eggs.. even though its not a full egg.. the potatoes were more of a creamy consitency adn the squash was like a puree.. only a couple bites of each.. i was just curious because ive seen people eating bean burritos 2 weeks after and one who is eating whole grain chips.. i will wait ti:0l my dr says its ok for these.. thank you all for the info and advice.. this site will be a lot of help.

each person is on a different post-op diet, so it's important to follow your own Dr's instructions. I have read of people going back to normal foods after 1 week and others on liquids for 6 weeks.

just for contrast with another of your replies, I was allowed full liquids immediately post op for two weeks (yogurt, strained/sieves Soups, etc), the to mushies/purees for one weeks, then to soft foodsI will continue soft foods/purees for another week and then can continue to slowly introduce foods.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
