Karma88 7 Posted April 8, 2012 Ok, I had surgery march 1 and I have a tiny spot where my port incision is and I was looking at it this morning and pushed on it and this oily stuff mixed w a little blood came out. About a teaspoon in all. It's definitely oil because the blood was kinda beaded in it. So Wierd didn't have any odor don't think there's any puss stuff but so strange. Anyone else have this? DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 8, 2012 This will sound weird, but do you see a little black speck in it? Or even a clear one, kinda like super thin fishing line? You could have an internal suture that didn't dissolve trying to work it's way to the surface. I've had that happen before. It doesn't hurt, it's not red, and there's no order so I really wouldn't worry about it unless it grows in size or continues to ooze.

Clearish yellow tinge but still clear w blood in it. I wonder if they had to cauterize and it's melted fat. So strange. Sorry to have been graphic
sam3841 57 Posted April 8, 2012 I would call your surgeon to make sure. Wounds can open it and it can become a very big deal. There should be an on call nurse who you can talk to. Plus if it later becomes a big deal they have documentation.

Fluid that can form its not an infection but it may need to be drained. Hmmm not excited. Going for a fill Thursday but calling the dr tomorrow.
JohannaMae 9 Posted April 9, 2012 I was banded on 3/20/12 and the day after my surgery I had Fluid coming out of the corner of my port incision. I called my doctor and he said drainage sometimes occurs and as long as there's no swelling and it's not red it should be ok. It would stop and then build up and drain again. Last week I made an appointment because I was concerned of it getting infected. He tried draining some of the fluid with a syringe and a little came out. He said it was a hematoma -collection of blood under the skin from the bruising. As of today a little drainage is still coming out but as the swelling goes down I noticed the bruising is going away and there's less drainage. Just keep in contact with your doctor to make sure it doesn't get infected. Hope this helps. God bless -
