Mslippy 0 Posted April 7, 2012 Did everyone have to do a sleep study prior to surgery?
gottobeme 81 Posted April 7, 2012 I already used a CPAP so I didn't need one. I think a lot of it depends on your doctor and other health factors.
Jen75 33 Posted April 7, 2012 My pcp had already done a sleep study where I taped a pulse ox machine to my finger and was able to sleep in my own bed. The company dropped it off at my house and picked it up the next day. My 02 only dropped two times below 80 for a short period of time (seconds) so he didn't see the need to do any further extensive testing. The rest of the time it was mid nineties. Maybe instead of the major sleep study at a clinic You could ask your pcp about this. My ins. Co. Accepted this.

ccsbulldog 59 Posted April 8, 2012 I had to have a sleep study because they said my pulse was high, which I found out from my pcp that my pulse has always been high and found out that several family members have high pulses. Also because I told them that I snore on occasion. I'm glad I have insurance because it's quite an expensive test just to find out that I do not have sleep apnea. (my insurance was charged $2,400). I think I move alot because I kept getting tangled in the wires on my legs. Horrible night sleep considering the cost, just glad I don't have it!
michele39 7 Posted April 8, 2012 i did a sleep study at the doctors office, they had a seperate place with rooms and beds, found it very hard to sleep. They told me if we wake u up in the middle of the night to wear the cpap then you have sleep apnea bad. They didnt wake me up thought I was all good, but then I get call from doctor saying we want you to do it again this time wearing the mask, well at 600.00 dollars out of my own pocket for this I politely refused, and it was fine with my doc he said most likely your sleep apnea will go away once i lose weight
