chrishalas 11 Posted April 7, 2012 Hello everyone! I'm in the process of starting my weight loss surgery. I have got insurance qualifications met, attending my eating healthy for life class, and have my psychology approval. I haven't met the doctor yet as this is a scheduled program through one of our local hospitals. Im getting really nervous as it comes closer and closer to the time of getting to the point of meeting the doctor and scheduling my surgery. I have heard both good and bad things about banding surgery and just don't want to be one of those horror stories and wished I went a different route. Maybe some of you guys can help me relax more and get your feedback on the surgery.
CallMeStacy 7 Posted April 7, 2012 You should order the book Bandwagon by Jean McMillan ... you can also find her on this support group. Order the book and read it, it is very informational and has helped me so much. This is not going to be easy but it is going to be worth it as long as you work hard. I was banded 1/16/12 and I have had my moments of regret but overall I am so thankful for my band. It helps to keep me on track. You can do this as long as you remember that your band is a tool and not a 'fix all'. It takes a total life make over to lose the weight, so make sure you have a good support system in place and know that you can do this !!! Just stick with it and do what your dr tells you and you will be fine. If you are feeling nervous just know that we have all felt that way before and after banding. Good luck to you on your journey =0)
chrishalas 11 Posted April 7, 2012 Thanks for the info. How have you done since January?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 7, 2012 It's very much a personal opinion, and everyone has to do what's best for them. With that said, I love my band. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I was banded 3 months ago on Jan. 6 and I've lost 65 pounds so far. I've never vomited and there isn't anything I can't eat as long as I take small bites and chew thoroughly. I would do this all again in a heartbeat. I'm so thrilled I got banded. chrishalas 11 Posted April 7, 2012 Wow. Those are some awesome results. That's what I'm hoping for. :-)
justathing2me 146 Posted April 7, 2012 That's great Mis73, I'm hoping I have the same results...never vomit and can still eat anything within reason as long as it's thoroughly chewed. Although, I am realistic, I've read here that is not the case with everyone. I have gone through all my testing and am now just continuing my monthly physician visits (my insurance requires 6 months). I hope to be banded and have a tentative date scheduled for the end of July (Can't wait!!). Good luck chrishalas on your journey!

Jim1967 3,569 Posted April 7, 2012 Hi Chris and welcome to Lapband Talk!! I agree with Stacy check out Bandwagon by Jean. It is available via Amazon. Great book and very informative. Also this forum is awesome. Lot's of great, helpful and inspirational people here. This site is such a valuable resource. I have been at this since Sept 2011 and just now I am a little more than a week away from surgery and I am still nervous. More you look around this board the more you will see this is normal. Good Luck..Jim
