When Can You Lie On Your Stomach?

Recommended Posts

It's my most comfortable position, and I'm afraid I won't be able to later... Are you able to?

I had surgery on a Tuesday and slept on my stomach on Wednesday night. If you assume what I call the Superman position, one leg straight and one leg up, it does take a little pressure off your stomach.

I think it was 3 or 4 days before I slept on my stomach after my surgery.

I laid on my stomach appx 3 days after surgery. In the meantime, I laid in my side with a small pillow under my stomach. That tricked my body into thinking I was sleeping on my stomach. Good luck to getting a restful night of sleep.< /p>

I did not consciously lay on my stomach til about a week out, but my boyfriend told me when he came to bed a couple days after surgery and I was already asleep I was on my tummy. I felt completely fine sleeping on my left side (port is on right side) the day of surgery, which worked for me until I could sleep on my tummy. I Actually forced myself to sleep on my back the week prior to surgery because I did not know what would happen after surgery and wanted to be comfortable.

im so restless all night that im all over the place. lol. but, it was a few nights, even a full week before i felt comfy on my tummy. i dont sleep on my tummy but like to just lay on it a while. How on earth could you sleep forcing yourself to lay on your back? it would be hard Im thinking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
