I love "Unjury Protein Powder". Does anybody know if that is acceptable. Very high quality Protein Powder and I mix with skim milk and ice. The Nutritionist said I need to do shake replacement meals because they have more than just the protein powder, but I could add the protein powder to the Meal Replacement to give it more protein. I just have a lot of that powder because I just really like it anyway. I tried looking for the Carnation Instant Breakfast meal replacement and didn't see it.

I found Muscle Milk on sale today, so grabbed it to try out before my pre-op liquid diet starts...I tried chocolate...YUCK! lol. I also found Myoplex Lite...chocolate fudge .... a little better taste. If i dont find anything else i like better, i can stomach it enough drink one a day for the weeek before and the week after surgery. Im going to try one or two more that ive seen listed on this board and see how they are.

Muscle Milk Light is a better choice because the regular is really high in cals and fat.

Premier Ready to drink is a good choice (available at Costco) 160 cal and 30 g of Protein.< /p>

Try Pure Protein's Frosty Chocolate...the powder. The can is okay too but the powder is really good when mixed with skim milk.

I am almost three years out and I still have a Premier Protein shake from costco almost every morning. YOu really just have to lose weight before your surgery the shakes have nothing to do with it.

I agree. My doc sold me Opti fast. They're premixed in cartons with straws. I think they're good. Get vanilla and add flavored syrups. I have coconut, almond, and German chocolate cake. Da Vinci makes them. You can drink the shakes from the carton or blend them with flavor and ice for variety. No issues with shakes for me. I'm 3 days from surrgery and have made it so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
