I cannot stand even the thought of puréed foods.

When my mother was in a nursing home, her dinner one day was a pile of pink mush.

She took one taste and said "hmmm....pizza....want some?"

During that stage for me, I stuck with heavy creamed Soups, mashed potatoes with gravy, etc.

My surgeon said he's not a fan of us pureeing food. He said go with heavier Soups, etc.

B-52, pizza has been haunting me so constantly that I seriously considered trying to make a liquid-ish pizza concoction. Haha. I just have to keep telling myself: ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL SOLIDS, THEN TORTILLA PIZZA, HERE I COME!

My fav was Refried Bean Soup. Keep in mind, I hate Beans of any kind, but this tasted like real Mexican food & had flavor!

Mix/puree:

1 can of refried beans

1 can of chicken broth

1 can of rotel

Heat it up & enjoy!

I would add a small scoop of fat free sour cream to it also.

what sort of pureed foods are you enjoying now?? its a good question you asked. im interested to know what my family can enjoy with me as well. I dont have any more ideas to share right now. One week out from surgery is soon for Pureed foods... im over two weeks and have to be very careful about what im introducing. ive overdone it with my Soups. put too much into them, even though they are still liquid, i think they were too spicy. Anyway, what have you been enjoying so far?? im looking forward to more solids myself.

I purchased low fat small curd cottage cheese. I did not need to puree it. I just made sure that I chewed until I felt it was smooth. The egg salad, I used 2 hard boiled eggs a small amount of light mayo, small squeeze of dijon mustard, little salt pepper & dill. I used an strawberry slicer and I cut the egg once one way than spun it to cut it the other way. Then I mixed it all together. I did not puree it just again made sure I chewed it so it was smooth.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
