I just got back from my first post-op apptointment....all went well and I can move forward to mushies for one week and then a regular diet. But heres my question. I can either have my first fill on March 26, but I am leaving on a cruise on May 4. That will give me 1 week to adjust to my first fill.....is that enough time? If I don't get the fill on the 26th I won't be able to get it until May 17.

I think I would like to have it done on the 26th....but I wanted those that have already went through the first fill to let me know if I am pushing it.

The dr was ok with giving it to me early because he said I have done so well with post-op. But he wanted me to think about it first.

So fellow bandsters......would you please think for me!---haha

I know we are all different, but being that its just the first fill.....it seems like the majority on here but feel anything after the first one....so it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal.--And if for some reason it was a mistake I would still have several days to go back and have the Fluid removed before the cruise.

I would say 1 week is plenty of time. Also, your first fill I would not expect too much, if any, effects from it.

You will be good to go for the early fill! You probably will not notice much of a dif as I didn't until my forth fill!

I noticed a difference in my first fill. I started getting hiccups and burps while eating. I called my doc and he said I wasn't chewing good enough. So I started chewing my food really good. I have found that I am extremely sensative with my fills. I have only gotten to 5cc and was so restricted I threw up every meal. Just have the doc start off slow with you fills, like just adding 1cc at a time maybe less and I think you would be fine to get your fill before your cruise, just remember to eat slowly and chew VERY good and you will be great! :) Have fun on your cruise! We are going for one in June and I am totally stoked for it! :)

One week is plenty time to get adjusted. Depending on how much fill you get, you may not feel a difference at all, but take caution when eating..especially on a cruise where food is everywhere! I've had four fills and am FINALLY feeling restriction.

Get the fill!!! You will have plenty of time to adjust and a cruise can be all about food!!!!! food is served 24 hours a day... Some restriction will be better then none!!! Good luck manda!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
