Thank You Goes A Long Way!

I was just reminded of something.

A few weeks before my scheduled surgery were very chaotic, getting all the approvals, signed releases, forms, etc all lined up.

Waiting for this Dr. To fax that Dr, who's off till Monday, etc, etc.

I recall, the Thursday before my Monday scheduled surgery, driving down the interstate, yelling in my cell phone "what do you mean my cardiac clearance is no good! It was ok last week!"

In other words I was a stressed out S.O.B.! But the surgery did go as scheduled.

Now to my point.....2 days after surgery I had a huge giftbox sent to the office, filled fruit, breads, Cookies, brownies, etc. etc, just to show them I'm really not a S.O.B.

I got phone calls from each individual person there thanking me.

Even now, over a year later, they have not forgotten and I still feel the love every time I show up.

I did something similar...My surgical coordinator n I build a very friendly relationship with all the emails we had to send eachother over paperwork. On Monday when I went in for my post-op I gave the receptionist a thank you card with a Starbucks card in it to give the coordinator for me. I also sent the doctor n staff a thank you card n had an order of edible arrangements delivered to them. The coordinator reached out to me n couldn't have been more happy and appreciative. It made me feel so positive to do that for them as they have already done so much for me.

I always do this. It certainly goes a long way. The world needs more appreciation if you ask me. Good job to everyone who is showing their appreciation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
