Liquid Vitamins And Metformin

Recommended Posts

I bought the liquid vitamins at the Vitamin Store and had my Metformin squished to liquid at the pharmacy. Does any know that if I add these to a Protein Shake will it loose its potency? They both taste pretty yucky taken plane.

You would not believe the pills I have to take every morning, including 4 large liquid hell caps.

My band is tight, 7.5 cc.

And I have never had to crush or liquefy any of my meds. I just take one at a time, with my morning shake, slow and easy. And of course, never with food or near eating solid foods. I would not want a pill to sit in my pouch causing irritation to the banded area. I rather have it go straight into my stomach.

I did get a pill crusher early on because I was told I needed to, but only used it a few times.

May not be true for everyone, just sayin.

I have found there are a lot of things they teach you to do when banded, but have found that many of them may or not apply once you get in a groove.

Thanks B52....that is good to know. I would rather swallow a small pill then take a mouthful of it squished up...so nasty.

Metformin are huge pills! Did you go to a compounding pharmacy or were you able to get a liquid? That is the only one of my pills I worry about. The rest that I take are tiny. Didn't even think to ask on that, thanks for mentioning. Hopefully, I can kick Metformin all together!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
