What And How Much Should I Be Eating?

Recommended Posts

It has been 8 months now since I had my surgery, I have a 10/12 band and I'm at 6 cc's full. I feel after my last small fill I take just 1-2 bites of something and that's it I'm full. My problem is I'm wasting so much food and need to figure out how much of something I should be able to eat. I work in an office so packing lunch is hard, I bring a Lean Cuisine frozen meal and can only eat two bites, then I throw it away. Any suggestions on what to eat that I can portion out better, and how much is normal to eat at the stage I'm at?

Do you cook? Have you tired just brining leftovers for lunch? This has really helped me.

You should be eating 3 ounces Protein and 1/2 cup veggies. Maybe your band is too tight. I can eat a whole lean cuisine for lunch and add some additional veggies.

I used to be concerned about throwing stuff out but then I realized who cares! Throwing stuff out is much better than consuming it!! If it isn't something u can wrap up for later then be happy it's in the trash instead of ur belly!

If you can take Lean Cuisine then it sounds like you have access to a fridge and microwave at the very least so you should be able to take in anything in any portion sizes that suit. I find I get in a rut with eating at times and need to shake it up to get some variety into my diet. Getting bored with food is a quick way to eating the wrong things for me.

Hi Sage, I bought little 1/2 cup food containers and bring them to work... What if you heat up your lean cuisine at home the night before, and divide them up in the little containers? Maybe you can bring 1 in at a time and have enough for possibly 2 more meals? I'm a firm believer in not throwing " good " food away, even if it means eating the same thing for 2-3 days! Sometimes my dogs even get to enjoy leftovers:) good luck!

I found 1 cup containers with hinged lids (pack of 6) at Wal-Mart. They have become my best friend! I can pack my food into 1/2 cup portions and eat the leftovers the next day or evening. I love that they already have lids attached and I can't lose them. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
