Need To See Some Weight Drop Now

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op I walk 2 to 4 miles 5 days a week. I have lost weight but it's not drastic where I can stay motivated. I'm trying to not think about it as much, but can't help but wonder if this lap band is gonna work. The bad thing is I'm tired of telling folks that its a work in progress cause I can't do aerobics til I see the Dr in 2 weeks. The bad thing is they have me on a time line that is making me upset, cause they wanna see how much weight I dropped. I just don't know what to do at this point!!!

How come "they" are more important than your journey to being healthy ?? You didnt gain that weight overnight, so youre not going to lose it overnight either. It is what it is................ you might want to focus on the reasons you got the band and not worry so much about others expectations. Let them worry about their own bodies so you can focus on your own ! The band DOES work but it takes time, so be patient and follow you Drs orders so he/ she can get you to where you want to be. i was banded mid December, down 27 lbs and damn happy about it ! ANY weight lost i consider a positive !! You should too !

And you are probably wondering where was all their interest when you were gaining that weight in the first place!

Remember that it took you a long time to put the weight on and it only went on a little bit at a time. That's how it's going to come off, especially if you do it the healthy way.

Try just saying "thanks for caring about my health" to people who ask and then change the subject. If they push you, point out that it took X number of years to gain the weight and it's going to take quite a while to lose it because WLS is not a quick fix, it's a healthy solution.

PS Keep reminding yourself of that too!

Good luck.

I was banded on March 16th. I lost weight the first week but have been static the last 2 weeks. Just be patient. This is a journey not a race. Don't worry what others do or say this is for you! By the way, I stepped on the scale this morning and lost 1.5 lbs. Patience prevailed!

I didn't lose any weight and actually gain in the first 3 weeks. When I got my first fill that is when things started to happen. Please don't give up! Tell people you have lost some and will let them know when you lose more. Or just tell them it's none of your business. Good luck and don't give up. Excersing is a big step.

To quote another bandster Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was your butt.

This is why I did not tell anyone about my surgery. Do they think you step into a magic box and abracadabra you come out thin?

Don't worry it will happen to you too!! Just don't weigh yourself everyday...be patient and wait....if not till you go to the docs next then maybe every 2 weeks?

How much weight have you lost? What are your expectations? 1-2 lbs. a week is "normal". Did your surgeon inform you of this? There will be weeks where you don't lose ANY weight, but your motivation shouldn't stop because of this. Weight loss is dependent upon more than just diet and exercise although these are the main factors. How do people know that you are NOT losing weight? Why are they worried? Are you doing this for them or you? Please do not let the number on the scale dictate your continuation with healthy eating habits and a good exercise routine. Keep it up and the numbers will follow!

I was banded in December, and lost almost all of the 14 pounds I have thus far that first week and a half. Then, I thought this would be so fricken easy! Now I realize that it is not going to be that easy, and I need to really work this thing. There are days when I feel discouraged (as I'm sure most of us has!), but I know I can do it. And I have a motivation coming up at the end of summer... my 20th high school reunion!

I lost 24 lbs post op because I diet and I walk a mile and a half a day. I don't go for my 1st fill for 3weeks but i am doing this for me. Sometimes me as a person let people get to me, that's a work in progress along with my lap band journey. But I thank all of the responders because I feel better to know I'm not alone and I wish you all the same success and happiness your sending my way!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
