shawna_s 8 Posted April 3, 2012 For my insurance to cover i have to have a 40+ BMI. RIght now I am sitting at 39.4. The surgeon's office wants me to do a sleep study. I would be VERY surprised if I actually have sleep apnea, but am doing the test anyway. Anyone else do the test for insurance reasons and turns out you actually DID have it?! I am trying not to get discouraged, but it seems like a waste of time.

mandagay 93 Posted April 3, 2012 Yeah I had it to but honestly I believe it's something they tell everyone they have! That's just my opinion tho. I don't know of a single person who has been tested that didn't test positive!
shawna_s 8 Posted April 3, 2012 Well, that is what I wanted to hear! I don't care if it is true or not, as long as it will help my case with insurance! ha ha!
NWgirl 574 Posted April 3, 2012 I did not test positive, but my surgeon required it before they would put you under. I thought that I might have it, due to some concurrent symptoms with apnea. The sleep Dr did say I woke up many times throughout the night that I don't remember, but that was about it.
phatkatblue 45 Posted April 3, 2012 My insurance required the test but I already had it...my hubby received the diagnosis during the qualification process;) go figure...
Noturningback15 45 Posted April 3, 2012 I already knew I had sleep apnea because I had all of the symptoms! Falling asleep at the wheel at 9AM...loud snoring....gasping for air while sleep...and feeling tired all the time no matter how long I slept. Sleep apnea is a very serious condition for some of us. Oh, to answer your question, it wasn't unexpected...lol!
