Single Incision Lapband Surgery????

Recommended Posts

I was told that I qualify for single incision lap band surgery as apposed to the regular 4 or 5 Incision way..did any of you have your surgery done this way? How did you feel afterwards? Do you think it's a better choice as far as scarring and pain? Any input would be super helpful Thanks :-)

SabrinaS,

My Dr mentioned the single incision possibility to me as well. He said those who did not have an excessive amount of fat on their bellys were better candidates for the single incision surgery. He said he would not be able to determine if I was a candidate until surgery day. This probably doen't help much, but thats all I have :)

i had the single incision surgery :) my dr is one of the few who offer it i love it i dont have any scars my incision is in my belly button. recovery was pretty easy and fast. idk what the requirements are for it. my dr just asked me if i wanted single incision and i said yes. he did tell me that if i wanted the single incision to stick to the pre opt diet because you need to reduce ur body fat ass much as possible before surgery

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
