I was banded this past Thursday the 29th. I am of course in my liquid diet still. I felt that since I could eat yogurt that eating no sugar added applesauce was good. I ate some last night and became really nauseated. I thought it was the morphine because I had to go to the ER for pain yesterday. So today I tried it again and I'm so freaking sick right now. Has anyone had any problems like this? Is it really the applesauce?

Stick with liquids as per your post op instructions from your doctor. Apple sauce is pretty high in Fiber and that may be too much for your healing tummy.

Thanks.....that make sense. I just don't see how yogurt is considered a part of the liquid diet but I did better on that.

I think it's best to stick to Clear Liquids. I lived on skim milk, chicken broth and Jello for the week after surgery. Then added non Clear Liquids like Soups and yogurt the week after.

Make sure ur stomach heals well and don't work it hard. I went from work to bed and bed to work coz I had no energy the first two-three weeks, but it flies by.

I hope that the nausea goes for you real quick. its hard enough trying to re adjust without suffering nausea as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
