Please Help. Stomach Cramps And Gas Pains

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on March 8, and I am having the worst stomach cramps and gas pains ever. I don't remember having these the first surgery back in 2010 so this is new to me. I take Gas X extra strength, but it is not doing a thing. It hurts to stand upright sometimes, and then other times it only hurts when I press on my belly. I had this happen to me last June. It was horrible. I even thought about going to the ER, but I went to Urgent Care instead. It finally went away after about a week, but this has been going on for over two weeks now. I'm not using the bathroom regularly so maybe that has something to do with it.

Any suggestions to alleviate the pain?

That's how I feel when I get constipated. I take milk of magnesia and 12-24 hrs later everything is back to normal and I feel good again

I also take Miralax every night just to keep things moving.

Thanks so much for the tips. It's weird. It starts in my upper stomach, and I can feel it ever so slowly working it's way down. It then starts all over again.

I get this too. I had to get a shot of muscle relaxer the day after surgery because it got so bad. But try sipping on hot Water or tea when it happens. That is the only thing that helps me now.

if this continues you need to try and follow up with it again with a dr. i had pretty much the same experience but not as painful as you. its gone now for the most part but still comes back periodically . i put it down to the bowel trying to re adjust to the new diet. i used to get bad ''griping'' pains many years ago.. the pain i had/have is the same but not as bad. just a thought.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
