The aprn who does the fills comes in and says she wants me to lose faster and gave me a prescription for adipex I'm just a little confused I paid to have this surgery so I don't have to do things like this but here I am at cvs waiting for my prescription I have to go back to the Dr in two weeks for a follow up she also gave me a fill too. Did this happen to anyone else out there????

that is one of my fears. I have tried to take Apidex before and hated the way it made me feel. I would go a mile a minuted during the day and I would crash in the evenings. My kids hated me on it as well...boy was I crabby.

I don't know...I would think the lapband with the proper fill is where the weight is supposed to come off from. I too got the band to stop with all the other garbage. I sweated like a pig the whole time I was taking adipex. I think I would cry if the dr. suggested this to me. I don't think I would do it. Call your doc and tell them how you feel about this.

I would wait to talk to your Dr in two weeks. Six pounds in a month is great! Plus you got a fill so that may speed up your weight loss.

Personally... I would NOT take any pills for weight loss. But that is me.

Congrats on your weight loss.

Thanks for the advice I got the prescription which was not covered by my insurance ::rolls eyes:: I'm going to give it the college try for two weeks and if I feel like crap I'm going to stop. My overall health is way more important than the aprn seeing a fast weight loss.....if I wanted to lose weight fast I would've had a different surgery.

Keep your fingers crossed for me :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
