August Bandsters Reunion

Wendy, that is so cool about the Endless Pool! We were just talking about that here in my office. Where in your house does that go? Do you have to dig a trench in the livingroom or something?

Thanks for starting this thread! It does really help to see that my weight loss is pretty much in line with everyone else's. I have had 2 fills and currently have 1.6cc. Just got the second fill last week. I've lost 43 pounds. My mini-goal is to be under 200 by the time of the Texas Bandster Bash in late April. Possible, but challenging.

My frustration has been that nobody seems to notice. And I've only gone from a size 26 to a size 24 (or 22 in some things).

NSVs: I feel so much better. I move faster and easier. I have less joint and back pain. I'm exercising. On Tuesday I will find out if my insulin and cholesterol levels have improved but I'm betting (and hoping) they have. My self-esteem has improved and I'm more assertive now.

My surgery was on August 19th and I've lost right at 40 pounds. My weight loss has been slower than I expected, but 40 pounds in 6 months isn't too bad. Hopefully it will be another 40+ in the next 6 months.

NSV's...

*went from a size 22/24 to a 16

*feel MUCH better

*am able to keep up with my 3 year old

****too many more to mention.

My neighboor has an endless pool, His is about 25 feet long, 10 feet wide. Sits above ground kind-of like a dough-boy. What makes it "endless" is one very powerfull adjustable jet that you can swin into. Its like swimming in place.

Hey I forgot about this thread but have enjoyed reading everyones progress, We have all came a long way. Congradulations to all.

I have lost 43 lbs with 12 coming after my last fill, 4th fill I believe. I think I am at 4.5 in a 4.0 band I was wondering if I ever woul dget the coveted restriction needed. Not to worry now as the fork has been drasticly slowed now. My goal is 229 by first Friday in March. Drop another 10th you know. Its 4 lbs away so I'm sure I will make it. I only missed one goal so far as I was very slow loser in th beginiing. As we can see its working well for us all.

The y would heve to get a warrent to get my band back!

Hi all, banded 8/1, officially 7 mos. out and only 23 lbs. lost. I have been a very slow loser. I have the AMI band and just had my 4th fill on Feb. 23rd and FINALLY FEELING RESTRICTED. So hopefully I am on my way to "loserville". Vera, I can't wait until I get under 200 again. I haven't been under 200 since 1992.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
