ncdee08 2 Posted April 1, 2012 Hello, This morning I ate some chicken and I felt like it did not go down properly I went for a walk, and it felt like something was stuck in my throat. I have been traveling all day on various planes and I am finally home and I still feel like something is in my throat yet I had dinner, Snacks and drinks since then. I am terrified to sleep and I need some pointers please help ASAP
NWgirl 574 Posted April 1, 2012 It is possible that your throat was scratched. I know in the past, I have had times when I have taken pills and they went down wrong and still felt like they were in my throat because they had scraped the sides.
ncdee08 2 Posted April 1, 2012 That makes sense I have been on antibiotics and I cut them because they are so big. If I had food stuck would I be able to eat other things?
mandagay 93 Posted April 1, 2012 U could still eat an drink but believe me u wouldn't even be thinking about food or drink. Ud be so uncomfortable!
SageTracey 608 Posted April 1, 2012 Sounds like you have possibly scratched your throat or something. You have eaten and drunk since it happened, obviously still breathing. Best just try to relax and let your body heal itself. If necessary, see your dr on MOnday.
ncdee08 2 Posted April 1, 2012 Thank you guys. I've had the hiccups and the burps and gurgles, but no slime. This started at 9 am and here it is almost 2 am and nothing has really come up. I'm afraid to go to sleep in case I choke. You have no idea how much it means to me that you took the time to reply
elcee 3,342 Posted April 1, 2012 If you are able to eat and drink then you do not have a blockage. If you have a blockage then NOTHING goes down. You are not likely to choke in your sleep. It is possible if you have bad reflux that Fluid could seep into your throat whilst you are asleep but normally when that happens you will wake up coughing. 1 123crod reacted to this
Grider 92 Posted April 1, 2012 YOu have irritated your stomach/ pouch throat and it will subside easy on liquids and soft foods for a few.. I asked this question few weeks back and it does go away with returning to soft food and letting tummy heal. I also have the same thing happend after getting a fill,,, after a week or so it all subsides. Gotta be nice tit the band when you make it mad.
Cazzy 725 Posted April 1, 2012 If you have been on planes its likely that your band tightened a little .. I would be careful with chicken tho for many of us although we manage chicken fine during the day of a morning it would get stuck .. try eating softer foods of a morning
ncdee08 2 Posted April 1, 2012 Well it is a new day and so far the pain/discomfort has passed. I believe you guys were on to something with me traveling and possibly scratching my throat. Sipping warm tea and relaxing helped. Thank you again for the support
bromo 17 Posted April 1, 2012 Has my first stuck episode yesterday and believe me, nothing else would go down. Now I understand sliming at its finest! lol Lesson learned, no eating and driving no matter how rushed you are. I had to pull over and get through it and lost all the time I thought I was saving. Cocoabean 430 Posted April 1, 2012 Eating and driving while banded is no bueno! To the OP, you most like irritated your stomach with the original stuck episode. Flying sometimes makes us feel tighter, that doesn't help. If you had some reflux thrown in, that can irritate the throat. After a bad stuck episode, I can be sore for a couple of days due to swelling. That is when I switch to liquids for a while until things feel better. It lets swelling subside and doesn't not invite a stuck episode on top of already swollen tissue.
Kiskis 56 Posted April 2, 2012 I get this way to when i am too full. Flying tightens my band and sometimes it takes me days to recover. I find that with 6 to 12 hours of flying in 1 day. I tend to go to Protein Shakes and soft bars. Take it easy & good luck! Always if in doubt i do 2 days liquids/mushies and this settles down everything and resets.
