Any Luck With Saltine Crackers

Recommended Posts

I am almost two weeks post-op and had some crackers with my Soup last night. Seemed to go fine.

crakers aren't liquid....be careful......I actually called and got permission to move up to mushies on day 9 due to low sugars.....I hadn't had any problems what so ever in drinking the liquids. So she allowed me to begin the mushies, at the same time I added exercise to my schedule. the very first day i went out and walked 2miles, when I got back i was very thristy and went to drink some Water and was very suprised when it didn't go down. That was not a good experience. I guess the exercise cause some swelling . Same thing happen the next day.

Has that happen to anyone else? Are there other events/things that just make the band swell like that?....I don't have any Fluid in the band so it has to be just swelling.

My dietician said I could have just 2 saltine crackers after I go into the mushy stage.. I had no problems with them once I entered the mushy stage..

A lot of things agreivate my band... Stress, exercise, mornings! Haha I have found that by sipping while I'm walking or doing the bike at the gym I can sip things later. No gulping!! Also, try warmer liquids after a workout... I have found extremely cold liquids almost "seize" the band causing it to be uncomfortable. room temperature is good...warm is better for me anyway... I look at my band as plumbing... Have to "prime the pump" before I can do anything! :-) good luck!!!

Cold liquids are difficult for me as well. I much prefer room temp. Since being banded.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
