Foods Aren't Really That Hard To Eat And I'm Two Weeks Out.....

Recommended Posts

highland is so correct... You have to give your stomach and stitches time to heal, that's why we go on the liquids then the mushies.. It takes about 6 weeks for scar tissue to develope and that's what they are waiting for, then you move to reg food..

Also, most ppl will not feel like anything has changed that much until they get their first fill. You have to start measuring and changing eating habits even before your first fill. You can't eat the same things just smaller portions and think your wt will come off. It's a life change!! The band can't change your food choices it there to help with hunger. Helps you eat less and helps hunger between meals, that's it.. Food choices are yours and yours alone..

I was told also by my dietician, NO bread, Pasta, rice and sugars. I have kept to that and I've lost a total of 45 pounds since nov and a total of 31 pounds since feb.. It's not easier at all, but it's so worth it to me.. I just tell ppl I'm allergic to the stuff, which to me I am, LOL!!

It really shocks me to hear that after your band you are not feeling restriction. I am!! I did not get any fills during surgery and my amount of food intake ( and food choices) have changed dramatically. I am almost at a month out and I have a very fine line between eating enough and way too much! If I take that extra bite, I am miserable for hours. I also have started my ... You don't want to eat this unless you plan to be miserable list.. Which I might add includes some all time favorites...non shredded chicken, corn, and pretty much any raw vege.

I hope that you get those fills as you need. I do not see one for me in the near future. I get full off of Water still. My main problem is the head huger and all this great food and "crack juice" aka soda calling my name!!

Still no restriction... No nausea no vomiting... Feels as though I don't have a band... I have more problems with liquids than anything else.. Still can't wait till April 30th my first fill date.. I know it will be different then and I can't wait...

Good luck to you!!! May we both be happy and healthy!!!! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
