Don't beat yourself up too much. Half the battle is recognizing what was ingested and what must be done to compensate for that. Wake up tomorrow and start the new day without the guilt. Good luck!

The best thing to do is realize that you made a mistake and not just think "well screw it, I've already wasted this whole day" and keep going....get right back on track. That was a hard, hard lesson for me to learn!

As long as you eat right 90% of the time. Think of it as shaking up your metabolism... As long as you don't do it often.

That's too funny we too have a Johnny Rockets by our local theater, small world. I admit I love popcorn too so what me and my husband do is get the small, I get a box put a small amount in it and when Im done Im done, Believe me it was trial and error on that too. Good luck

i always eat a small popcorn with layered butter at the movies - i average 1-2 movies per month - i sometimes can eat the whole bag sometimes only about half. It's my big cheat/splurge. I don't think twice about it - it may have barely slowed my weight loss but i doubt it and i'm happy with the pace i'm losing. Shaking up the metabolism is a good thing - i've learned that through this process.

Okay don't take this as being mean spirited. In the future plan to buy a hamburger no bun or fries and eat it while your daughter eats. I find the best defense against temptation is a plan. I'm sure you thought to yourself "I'm not going to eat anything this place is unhealthy." But by not ordering something you were tempted to eat bad choices. I have a friend that managed a fancy bistro. Mothers would come in buy really unhealty food for their kids and a green salad no dressing for themselves. The mother would eat all the kid's food and leave their salad. I'm sure their mentality was "I ordered a salad" yeah but they ate nachos and fried chicken fingers too.

I think you have to cheat once and awhile or it will drive you crazy.. just have to make sure it isn't everyday

I don't think of it as cheating! I believe its living, I believe that we need to start thinking like skinny people. They eat that stuff, they just moderate it. Just don't do it all the time. I allow myself junk, every now and again. HOWEVER, word to the wize, if its a trigger food, avoid it, cause thats a slippery slope! lol

Glad you caught yourself, enjoyed yourself, and now back to the bandwagon!

In my book, there is never a cheat. My band is for life. My eating habits are for life. I am not on a diet. I eat small portions. I make good choices most of the time. I enjoy foods that aren't so healthy some of the time.

My healthier choices happen far more than my less healthy choices. It is all about balance and moderation.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
