I'm just wondering ...how do the docs know that they actually filled your port? Like, has anyone ever had it happen where they know it didn't go in, and possibly just went into your body? My first fill experience was very easy...no problems..she even said she could feel my port perfectly between her fingers when she was doing it. I have absolutely no restriction but I know that's normal...But I still worry...what if they miss?

It's pretty hard to miss. They have to pierce through the port, and there is resistance against the needle when they do this. I have had enough fills now that I can tell when they've 'got it'. :)

Hang in there, sweet. I have recently been refilled to 8.5cc in my 10cc band and I still wouldn't say I'm at optimum restriction. I know it's frustrating but you will get there.

When I got my fill, when he hit it, it bubbled. Also when he put the saline in it, it gurggled In my chest. Pretty conclusive evidence hehe

My Dr., first uses a empty syringe, and when he is in the port, the first thing he does is pull out all the saline to measure it, check for color, etc.

Then leaving the needle in, he removes the syringe and attaches a fresh on filled with fresh saline plus the additional amount.

So how long should I put up with the heart burn before I concede that my band is prob too tight. I just hate the idea of getting fill removed! I'm so confused. I got the fill Saturday and have been able to eat anything (still measured out my portions just cause I should) then wed night I got heart burn that hasn't abated at all (Tums and gas x gave no relief). Would it really take the band that long to bother me after a fill (it was my first) or maybe I ate something that triggered the burn? Just hate thinking about gettin any out

My NP did the same thing B-52. Pulled some out and swapped with the saline. I could acturally feel it when it was put in. Weird feeling.

You really need to get some taken out if you are having heartburn that bad. Living too long with a tight band can cause a slip. I've been there and done that.

I went in and had all my Fluid taken out (3cc). He wanted to give my band a break since I didn't come In For three days (said with a firm frown on his face and a hanging head for me). I go back wed for a fill. He thinks 2 cc will be a better try for me. I was down four more lbs so that's good!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
