Hi everyone! I am new to this site so let me introduce myself. My name is Lisa and I live in a very rural part of the great state of Alabama .. Roll Tide!! :D I am 52 years old, have one daughter and one 2 year old grandson and expecting another grandson at the end of May! I am a teacher and will finish my 30th year in May. I am always had a weight problem. I joined Weight Watchers in the early 80's and have been a member off and on over the years. The program works, but my problem is and has always been keeping the weight off after I lose it! I am so hoping LapBand will fix that problem. I am scheduled for surgery on April 16th. My current weight is 270 and I am hoping to get below the 200 mark after surgery. Soooo....I am open to all tips, suggestions, and information I can get from you all.

The biggest worry right now is the Pre Op diet. I will be on liquids for 7 days and Clear Liquids for 3 days before surgery. I need tips and suggestions of some good things to drink! Please send my way!! Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'll keep you updated on my progress!

Lisa

ROLL TIDE! I'm from Alabama too. I was just banded myself on March 19th. The Atkins shakes tasted best to me, the worst was Muscle Milk. Everyone has their own preference I guess. My nutritionist said to make sure they have more than 100 calories or you won't feel full. Goodluck!

hello there, my nutrionist recommended the "Unjury" shakes. They are absolutely delicious. 1 serving Contains 21 grams of Protein and they are pretty filling. They come in vanilla, chocolate strawberry (least favorite) and they have one called chicken Soup which is amazing. I just got banded a few hours ago and they got me through the last few days along with my sugar free Jello puddings and jello.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
