Band Varies From Day To Day...?

Recommended Posts

Do any of you who have had your band a long time find that some days you are tight and may even have to go to soft foods for a day and other days it is like the flood gates have opened and you have to tell yourself to stop? I am nervous about getting a fill because I have been maintaining well, but I still have some weight to lose to reach my ultimate goal, but dont want to get too tight as I have been before cuz thats no fun at all ! Thoughts?

Absolutely. Sometimes I feel I could eat my right arm. Other times it feels like the band is doing it's job. I've had my band for 2 1/2 yrs now and I WAS about 9 lbs from goal. Now I'm 15 - I've gained 6 lbs. Since my last fill (about 4 mths ago), it's seems like I could eat MORE than I could before it. And I have 10cc in a 14 cc band now. My doc says I'm "maxed out" on fills. He said the rest is up to me. I didn't do such a great job before the band what makes him think I can do a good job after the band?

Sometimes I feel that I could eat a house, sometimes I feel like I could eat like a bird. I guess that's normal.

Thanks for the confirmation that Im not loosing my mind! I too think I am in a good spot and just need to do the rest myself.. I think any tighter and I will not be able to eat any of my Protein and although I would like to lose this last bit of weight.. being sick isnt how I want to do it ! Glad to know others have that sensation as well.

Yes yes yes! Some days I feel like I can inhale a table full of food with no consequences. Other days I barely eat anything and am good.

To me, it logically doesn't make sense but I have learned to go with the flow. A little pun intended!

:P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
