    • Isn't that the point of the band? I won't take them. That is why I got this band!!!

    • I don't think it is good to take them, but I am not opposed to the idea.

    • I take them on occasion.

    • I take pills/supplements/suppressors/boosters regularly to promote and give my weight loss an added edge along with the tool of my band. Why not make the most of the situation?

anybody tried the alli diet pills?? Just curious... All I take is my multivitamin and Calcium.< /div>

I would imagine the only people that are willing to take Alli are those willing to wear adult diapers. That is some nasty stuff. People here have horror stories about taking that drug. It used to be Xenical.

My friend is taking Alli. It was very difficult in the beginning for her to maintain control of her bodily functions due to the effects of those pills. She has described what it does in gross detail so I'm not sure that I'd like to spend my day in the potty. It gets really bad if you eat anything with more than 15 grams of fat. Well that's just about everything that isn't a healthy choice :0)

What kind of problems did you have before the band was removed? I had mine since 10-10-2007 and have only lost 40 pounds. Very disapointed in the results

I take a multi and did LONG before I ever got the band. As to appetite suppressants, if you think they work long term I have some land in florida to sell you.......and there's a fee for posting here you need to send me directly! :juggle:

Vitamins and minerals are prescribed by my doctors for good health. Example: 4000 units of D a day to treat a deficiency.

My concise opinion of appetite suppressants and diet aids: AAARRRGGHHHHHH!

C'mon, have they ever worked permanently for you before? What makes you think they'll work any better now? Diet aids are a zillion dollar a year racket that take advantage of the desparate.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
