So many of you say eggs are good, I really struggle with eggs of any kind. I feel them going down every bit of the way and its so uncomfortable. tuna is also a big no no. My soft foods consist of mash, mash and more mashed potato.

I ate some pinto Beans last night for supper, and I will be having them again for lunch. Didn't really taste all that great. I think my taste is messed up right now. I am going to have a baked potato for supper tonight.

I looked at my list again, and it says I can have crackers, toasted bread, deli meats during this stage. I have had some crackers the last couple days, but I don't know if I would call that soft food.

I had a cracker before I needed something to chew , I thought I chewed it up great but now I feel like I have sharp little cracker edges in my throat. Very weird I'm feeling this with no fill.. Not sure if I'm happy or sad about it! ;)

Try mashing Beans with a little purred salsa to add moisture and flavor. You can also add a little fat free sour cream or greek yogurt. Instead of mayo in egg salad or tuna, try some mashed avocado and or a little olive oil. Avocado is a food fat. A mashed or baked sweet potato is another good option. As is hummas.

I started soft foods yesterday and have been good with hummus, tuna salad and baked potato ( mashed up). Breakfast, lunch and dinner :) Today and yesterday both, I would say that my portion size has been closer to the 1/4 cup right now.

Are Beans a good soft food? I've been wanting some good ole' pinto Beans. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> That may not be good for the gas pains I've been having.

Yes any kind of bean is good! Smash them up or chew really good!

I had egg salad the other day I'm three weeks out and it kinda just got stuck in my chest area.. not sure if I ate too fast or too much or both but I won't be trying that again. oatmeal also. I'm starting to think I can't eat anything but soup!

I have the same thing happening with tuna salad. Now I am scared to eat it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
